What Nevada plumbing contractors ask before choosing coverage.
The Board requires a license bond or cash deposit and proof of workers’ comp when you have employees. Its licensing rules do not make general liability a condition of the license. Customers, property managers, and general contractors do require it, and most contracts name a limit. So the honest answer is that the state requires the bond and the market requires the policy. We say this carefully because it is often stated the other way around, and a bond will not satisfy a customer who asked whether you are insured.
By the Board, for your license. The statute says the amount is fixed with reference to the contractor’s financial and professional responsibility and the magnitude of the contractor’s operations, within a range the statute sets, and the Board can raise or lower it at renewal or after a hearing. There is no public table by class and volume the way Arizona publishes one. The amount appears in your license record, and that is the number we read before placing the bond alongside the coverage.
The monetary limit is the largest contract you may undertake on one site for one client, set by the Board on every Nevada license. It does not change what insurance you must carry. It changes what general contractors and underwriters expect: a shop with a large limit is bidding larger projects, and the limits, umbrella, and completed-operations questions follow. You can ask the Board to raise it, permanently or for a single project, with financial evidence. When you do, tell us, because the coverage review should move with it.
Nevada calls workers’ comp industrial insurance, and it is required with the first employee. Construction gets strict treatment, so a helper who works your schedule, drives your van, and uses your tools looks like an employee to the state whatever the invoice says. An owner can elect out for themselves in some structures, and that election belongs on the record. We do not decide worker status for you. We show you the rule, the source, and the cost of each answer, and you decide with your accountant.
Yes. Riza Risk LLC holds a Nevada insurance producer license as an agency, and its producer holds a Nevada license personally, both for property and casualty lines. That is what lets us quote and bind coverage for a Nevada plumbing contractor and place the license bond through a surety authorized in Nevada. It does not mean we have an office in Nevada, and we do not say we do. We work from where we are, and the phone number on this page reaches a licensed broker who answers it.
Nothing about the coverage changes by city today. The classification, the monetary limit, the bond, and the industrial insurance trigger are set at the state level, and a plumbing contractor in Las Vegas, Henderson, Reno, or Carson City answers the same underwriting questions. Local permitting and business licensing differ, and a city can ask for its own paperwork, but those do not change the insurance program. If a city ever does change the answer, that page will exist. Until then, this one is the Nevada page.
There is no single price for every Nevada contractor. Your work, payroll or revenue, vehicles, claims history and coverage choices affect the quote. Two businesses in the same state can need different protection and pay different amounts. Riza helps compare available options, including limits, exclusions, deductibles and payment terms, so the monthly price is not the only thing you see. Tell us about your business or bring your current policy to start the conversation.
Yes. Bring your current policy and tell us what has changed in the business, whether that is more people, different jobs, new vehicles or a customer asking for higher limits. We help compare available options on coverage and price and explain the differences. You can decide whether to stay or switch. If you change policies, confirm the new coverage is effective before cancelling the old one so you do not create an unintended gap.
